LEADINGTRANSIT

1) Who we are

LeadingTransit.org (“LeadingTransit”, “we”, “our”) is a members-only community and publication for public-sector transit professionals in the U.S. and Canada. The site is published by Energy Enclosures Ltd. (EEL), a Canada-based publisher founded in 2017.

2) What this policy covers

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, membership areas, emails, interviews, and virtual discussions.
 

3) Information we collect

  • Account & membership info: name, work email, role/title, employer/agency, region, and verification details.

  • Communications: emails you send us; messages or comments you post; RSVPs and attendance for virtual events.

  • Interview materials (on the record): audio/video recordings, notes, transcripts, headshots (if supplied), and the final published text.

  • Usage data & cookies: pages viewed, links clicked, referring pages, IP address, device/browser, and general location derived from IP.

  • Optional payments: for paid memberships, billing details are processed by our payment provider; we don’t store full card numbers.

  • Surveys & forms (optional): responses you choose to provide.

4) How we use information

  • Operate the platform: create and manage accounts; verify eligibility; provide member-only access.

  • Editorial work: schedule interviews; record, fact-check, and publish on-the-record content; produce briefs and summaries.

  • Community & learning: organize virtual discussions; share agendas and follow-ups; curate resources.

  • Improve and secure the site: diagnostics, analytics, fraud prevention, and service quality.

  • Communications: send service emails (account, policy updates) and optional updates (new interviews, events). You can opt out of non-essential emails anytime.

5) Legal bases (where applicable)

Where required (e.g., Canada/EU-style frameworks), we rely on: consent (e.g., interview participation, marketing emails), legitimate interests (operate a professional community, secure and improve services), and contract (provide membership services).
 

6) Sharing of information

We do not sell personal data. We share information only with:

  • Service providers (e.g., hosting, email, analytics, video-conference, transcription, payment processing) under contracts that limit use to our instructions.

  • Editorial publication: on-the-record interviews and credited contributions may be published to members (and, if designated, publicly).

  • Legal/rights protection: if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of our users and services.

  • Mergers/reorganization: if ownership or structure changes, information may transfer under this policy’s protections.

 

Vendors do not have access to member-only areas.

7) Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand site usage. You can control cookies via your browser settings. Some features may not work without essential cookies.

8) Data retention

  • Accounts: kept while your membership is active and then for up to 24 months for audit/security, unless deletion is requested or law requires longer.

  • Interview records & published articles: kept as part of the editorial record.

  • Logs/analytics: typically 12 months in aggregated or de-identified form.

  • Backups: typically ≤90 days on a rolling basis.

9) Your choices & rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.

  • Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent (e.g., marketing emails) without affecting prior lawful use.

  • Request portability of information you provided directly.

10) Accuracy reviews for interviews

Where practical, we may share factual summaries with interview participants for accuracy checks before publication. This is not guaranteed and may be time-bound.
 

11) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep it confidential.
 

12) International transfers

We operate in the U.S. and Canada. Information may be processed in either country by us or our service providers. We take steps to protect data in accordance with this policy and applicable law.
 

13) Children

Our services are for professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
 

14) Third-party links

Our site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are their own.
 

15) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we’ll provide reasonable notice (e.g., posting the update or emailing members). Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
